Missy Floyd

Mrs. Floyd (“Ms. Missy” to her students!) has been a Speech-Language Pathologist since graduating with a Master’s degree  from the University of Tennessee in 1993. She has been at South Clinton Elementary since 2008. A Speech-Language Pathologist works with students who need assistance improving communication skills: producing speech sounds correctly (articulation) and/or comprehending or expressing themselves through language (vocabulary, concepts, grammar, thinking and reasoning).

“I believe that communication is the essence of being human. It is foundational to all aspects of education. Communication--our ability to effectively share our thoughts, ideas, and feelings to others and receive that information from others--significantly influences the course and success of life. My purpose is to help students become the best communicators they can be, and thus help build a strong foundation for every aspect of their future.”

Outside of school, Ms. Missy loves spending time with her husband Brandon. They are huge football fans and enjoy being outside (traveling, lake days, Jeep rides, and exploring greenway trails). Ms. Missy also enjoys exercising and singing on the praise team at church. Rounding out her family are two grown daughters and senior dog Louie.
